The Story Of Mike Tjindunda

Mike Ruhindo Samuel Tjindunda, also known as Daholymafia, is a Namibian filmmaker, director, and digital creative from Okanguati, rooted in the Himba community. His work is shaped by a deep connection to culture, lived experience, and a strong belief in purposeful storytelling, whether through film, design, or technology. Born and raised in a rural village with limited access to modern technology, Mike’s early world was defined by oral storytelling, community life, and tradition. His first encounter with technology came unexpectedly when his father, a church pastor, was gifted a desktop computer by the church. With no formal guidance, Mike began exploring the machine out of pure curiosity. He taught himself by experimenting, fascinated by how things worked, and quickly developed a love for creativity through software like Microsoft Publisher, where he designed simple graphics he proudly shared with classmates at school. This moment quietly marked the beginning of a lifelong relationship with both technology and visual expression. As his curiosity grew, so did his creative ambition. Mike later transitioned into filmmaking, bringing with him a perspective grounded in authenticity and cultural memory. His professional career began with the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), where he wrote and directed the short film Where Were You (2021), overseeing the project from script development to final delivery. The film marked his formal entry into cinematic storytelling and leadership within professional production environments. In 2024, he further expanded his television experience through NBC Drama School, Season 3, serving as Production Designer on Momazimo and Director on Necktie. In 2025, he continued his work with NBC as Director on one episode and 1st Assistant Director on three episodes of an NBC TV drama series, strengthening his skills in production management, visual direction, and collaborative storytelling within broadcast television. Alongside filmmaking, Mike has maintained a strong interest in technology and digital systems. He has developed and currently manages professional websites such as join-us-in-namibia.pro for a tourism company and rainbowkidskindergarten.org for an educational institution, focusing on clarity, trust, and user experience. This dual path — creative and technical, led to the founding of MG Studios, where he brings together film, web development, and graphic design under one multidisciplinary vision. Today, Mike’s work reflects a balance between cultural authenticity, professional discipline, and modern innovation. Whether directing a scene, designing a visual identity, or building a digital platform, his goal remains the same: to create work that is intentional, honest, and lasting, telling African stories from an insider’s perspective while engaging confidently with the modern digital world.
